During the Battle of Britain, RAF Fighter Command was divided into four operational Groups, each responsible for defending a specific region of the United Kingdom. These Groups—No. 10, 11, 12, and 13—were further subdivided into Sectors, each controlled from a designated Sector Station that coordinated the actions of satellite airfields within its area.

This structure was vital to the RAF’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to Luftwaffe raids, enabling centralized coordination and rapid communication across all levels of Fighter Command.
